Topic Meme: Day 12

pockysquirrel So, tsukino_akume requested a general headcanon ramble post. Which...normally would not be that much of a problem, except for the fact that I've already covered a lot of my major headcanons in other posts this month. Oops? So I'm just going to go ahead and post some random bits and pieces here, and if anyone's curious about my thoughts on anything else, feel free to ask in the comments.
Some PR headcanon, of course, since that's what the vast majority of y'all are interested in...
- Troy is in foster care. He just moved and transferred schools for no discernible reason. He falls asleep on the school bus en route to his first day of classes. He's emotionally guarded and clearly experienced at dealing with bullies. Gosei makes a comment about his having faced adversity that - thus far, 20 episodes later - has not been explained. Totaling the above, I think he's in foster care. I don't have consistent headcanon on where his parents are or why they're unable to care for him, but this is my backstory for Troy until proven otherwise.
- The Eltarians are the elder race in the galaxy. Eons ago, in an theory that I totally stole from Star Trek, the Eltarians 'seeded' numerous hospitable planets with genetic material that adapted to each individual planet and evolved into sentient life. This is why so many of the alien races in PR look so much like humans. Well...more accurately, why humans AND all the other humanoid races in the PR-verse look so much like Eltarians. Who, in reality, look an awful lot like humans. They just happen to have much longer lifespans, magic abilities and limited precognition.
- And on the subject of aliens, let's talk about the Xybrians for a bit. I'd imagine this race is pretty xenophobic and insular - they don't trust non-telepaths because they have the capacity to deceive each other. Trip is the first of his kind to serve in Time Force and his living on and 'adopting' Earth is kind of a big deal. I think that in order for this to happen, Trip would have to have been somehow cut off from the telepathic hive mind that the rest of his race exists in, making it impossible for him to fully function in Xybrian society. He literally can't go back. And that is super sad. But on the plus side, he and Katie are as close as they are because her family took him in.
- Bridge can see everyone else's aura, but not his own.
- It's not only possible for more than one Ranger team on Earth to be active at a time, it's already happened at least once. If I'm parsing the age of the Samurai team correctly, Jayden's dad's team would have been active at the same time as MMPR. Since different teams were explicitly designed to fight different threats and the Samurai team MAY have been active in Japan, they were able to stay out of each other's way. (But I still want and may someday write a crossover fic.)
- Teams don't like being broken up, and always manage to find their way back together. PRiS? Half on Earth, half on KO-35? Yeah, that's not going to fly for long. Given that the press is having a field day with FINALLY knowing the identity of the Rangers, everyone goes to KO-35 to escape the shitshow and mostly stays there on a permanent basis - with frequent visits home, of course. And Andros really needed his team together for the sake of his own sanity, what with having to kill Zordon and then having the sister he JUST saved running off to the other side of the universe to become a Ranger. Ultimately as space travel tech on Earth progresses and relations between the two planets become more formalized, Ashley finally uses her alien fetish to her advantage and becomes the first official ambassador between the two worlds.
Aaaand I'm running out of brain for this post, so that's all for now.
