punkpinkpower asked me to discuss things I enjoy about femslash. GLADLY.

Even though it's always slightly difficult to answer questions like these because I am stupidly easy to please when it comes to fic. There's so little that I genuinely DON'T enjoy that it leaves me with a big fat block of information to cover. I'll do my best, though!

So, things I like about femslash in general:
- I'm an equal-opportunity shipper. Het? Cool. Slash? Yes please. Femslash? Bring it. Multiples? ...Well, perhaps a bit less, but if it's well-written, sure!
- Relatedly, DIVERSITY AND QUEER ISSUES IN FANDOM. This post has been floating around on Tumblr that I think hits the nail right on the head in terms of the importance of fanfic in regards to issues of representation and alternative interpretations of canon. And really, yes. These are narratives that are needed. And it's a travesty that it's easier to find male homosexual romance in fandom than the female equivalent.
- I dig rarer pairs. Whatever the most popular ship in a fandom is, I'll inevitably get bored reading through the glut of fic about it and start looking for something else. And since femslash in general tends to be less frequently written than het and slash, the result is a bunch of pairings that are seldom seen, and that makes me a happy fan.
- Female characters deserve more love! Especially in the testosterone-heavy fandoms I seem to gravitate toward for some reason.
- And frankly...let's face it, folks, femslash is hot. I myself may largely lean in the general direction of heterosexuality, but I am not so straight as to be unappreciative of the fact that women are beautiful in a way that men are not. And putting two women together highlights that in a way that is just tops.

And...let's see, what was the original question? My favorite things in femslash fics/relationships? Wow, that's...an overwhelmingly long list. Let's instead squee over a few femslash pairings I particularly enjoy, and discuss what I like about them.

Gia and Emma:
- Look at that fucking icon. Look at it. It's enough cute to make your eyes bleed.
- They know each other so damned well. They memorize each other's favorite food orders. They can communicate with a look. How the hell can you be such an old married couple when you're only like, 17 years old?
- Even when they were under an evil spell that was SUPPOSED to make them hate each other, THEY STILL PROTECTED ONE ANOTHER. That's how strong their love is.
- The way they hang on each other and moon over each other and walk around arm in arm all the time...and we're expected to believe JAKE has a chance with Gia? Hahahaha no fucking way.
- Ship vibes so strong even the actresses acknowledge it.

Astronema/Karone and Cassie and/or Ashley:
- Sexual tension between enemies. Yes please.
- You can't tell me Astronema's costume doesn't have 'femdomme' written all over it.
- Alternately, all of the Karone-centric H/C in which her partner is willing to comfort and accept her despite who she used to be.

And for that matter, Karone and Maya and/or Kendrix:
- Are you sensing a theme here? Seriously, the ONLY guy I ship her with is Zhane.
- And the costumes are even more kinky on LG than they are on PRiS.
- Karone and Kendrix bonding over having shared the power. Kendrix knowing Karone's heart and trusting her enough to succeed her.
- Or Karone being all worried that she isn't a good enough replacement for Kendrix in Maya's eyes, and that's not the case at all.
- And then Kendrix comes back from the dead and instead of Karone winding up as a third wheel, they all just have an awesome threesome instead.

Jen and Taylor:
- Because you know, for all that I see people shipping either or both of them with various combinations of Wes and Eric, I have NEVER seen the two of them paired. Why is no one writing this?
- Wouldn't they just kick the most ass together?

...I think I lost the point of this post somewhere, so feel free as usual to ask about other stuff in the comments.
