Genetic geekery is the best kind, I think. My mother has been a Trekkie since she was a teenager, and I got her to admit that she wrote Kirk/Spock fanfiction once upon a time. She's also been a Star Wars fan since the first movie came out, so I grew up never knowing about the whole Star Trek/Star Wars divide. It's a shame that more people's families didn't encourage them to love their imaginations as much as ours did.
