pockysquirrel With the slow sad demise of twitter, I've been thinking about starting to use this thing more regularly again. But in the meantime, here's a Yuletide letter.
Ahoy, Yuleperson! If you're writing for me and we already know each other, hi, and I love you. If you're writing for me and we somehow haven't crossed paths before, matching with me at all means you're a person of taste and we should be friends.
Now. Let's get down to business, shall we?
General likes and dislikes:
I feel like I reiterate this every time I write one of these, but my squicks are few and my shame is nonexistent. Got an idea that involves dark or trigger-warningable material? Go wild, I'm good with it. A few of my favorite things are explorations of humanity involving semi-human or nonhuman characters, angst and whump, character studies and good old-fashioned Gay Stuff. I am pro-ship with exceptions that I will be sure to point out along the way. Please do not include any character bashing.
And now for prompts!
MMPR: Once and Always
Time to indulge the case of absolute fangirl rabies I've had toward Billy Cranston over the past three decades. The arc and implications O&A has for this man are fascinating and I'd love to see explorations of his lore. What happened between him and Cestria? When and why did he come back to Earth? How and why did he start his company? Do his employees really not know he's a Ranger, really? And how on Earth did he get the idea in his big stupid genius brain to try bringing Zordon back from the dead? Since I am, as previously stated, a whump appreciator, I'd also love to see him suffer emotionally from the events of O&A. Grief and trauma and survivor's guilt and all that good stuff. (And for that matter, how did the rest of the team treat him after Trini's death, knowing his role in it?)
As an alternative, please give me Zack doing shenanigans on Capitol Hill. Congress won't know what hit it.
Power Rangers: Cosmic Fury
Let's be real, this entire series was just "a series of increasingly traumatic events, in space!" So let's explore that. Any character grappling with the horrors of canon, during or after the events of it. Especially after. How does this team pick up the pieces and move on with their lives after everything they've faced and lost along the way? Bonus points for Dr. Akana coping with Ollie's whole thing, since she's cool and there's not enough fic about her.
More Billy content would be appreciated here, of course. How does he feel settling into a mentoring role for these kids? Does he tell them stories while the ship spends hours in transit to Earth? Does anyone call him out on his flagrantly unhealthy work habits after he locked himself in engineering to build those morphers? How did he end up doing an Indiana Jones space roadtrip with Mick, and what on Earth is the dynamic between those two like? And what was going through his head while he was skulking in the shadows at Javi's concert?
Miscellaneous things, Fern and Solon have a cool relationship and I'd like to see more of it. A dive into what the heck went on in the Morphing Grid and Zayto communing and/or body-sharing with Zordon would be cool. Worldbuilding bits are always cool, especially what other Ranger teams and supporting characters might have been up to on Earth during the occupation, and I'm dying to know how and why it ended up being that particular set of Megazords that showed up when the cavalry arrived.
I ship Izzy/Fern, Amelia/Ollie, and Aiyon/Zayto. I do not ship Amelia/Javi.
Shin Kamen Rider
I am a simple squirrel with simple tastes. Angst and cyborg body horror are super cool. But mostly it's all about Hongo and Ichimonji's relationship here, especially post-canon. They barely had a chance to get to know each other, and now they're sharing a body? What is that like? What are Ichimonji's feelings about walking away from this mess as the sole survivor, and is Hongo helping him through that from inside his brain? Does Hongo ever manage to get his own body back? And what does Taki make of all this?
I strongly, strongly ship Hongo/Ichimonji, but platonic interpretations are fine too. I'm also good with Ichimonji/Taki, and the natural extension that is the Hongo/Ichimonji/Taki OT3.
Kamen Rider 1971
Same tropes, same ships, different timeline. Once again, angst and cyborg body horror are super cool. Fun with canon mind links and telepathy are also super cool. I am an absolute sucker for fics that lean into Hongo and Ichimonji grappling with what it means to be a cyborg and struggling to hang onto their humanity. Hongo is my big fave here, and I'd love to see some introspection or character study for him. Especially a look at what went on while he was alone overseas, because he came back to Japan...different. Hotter. More confident. What helped him with that?
For this iteration, I ship absolutely every combination of Hongo, Ichimonji, and Taki.
Ohsama Sentai Kingohger
Bunch of different routes you could take here; I just adore these bugs and their drama. Jeramie is my favorite character by miles, so I'd be happy to see just about anything focused on him. Maybe some of what he got up to during all those years he spent wandering the world with that cage on his face? Plenty of character study and whump opportunities there. For canon-current stuff, I ship him with Gira primarily. I'd love to see them inventing romance during the timeskip. Bonus points for xeno content, but chaste and cute is also good.
Racles and the Dybowski siblings. There is so much to explore in those dynamics, and all of it is toxic. Any combination of these characters using and manipulating each other is a fun time. "Sex for diplomacy" situations are great. Suzume deserves a lot more exploration than canon gives her. Does she actually care about Racles? How much of what she does is for the sake of her family and her nation, and how much is for herself? And what does Racles make of her, especially while he's over here letting Kaguragi flirt the pants off him?
For a purely gen option, let's see the team minus Gira and Jeramie being doofuses in jail during the timeskip.
Ultraman Blazar
Once again, I am asking for fic about body-sharing. How does Gento experience being Blazar? How does Blazar experience being Gento? What is the development of their relationship like, in quiet moments off the battlefield? What does everyone else make of those moments when Gento is acting super weird because Blazar took over his body for a second?
Additionally or alternatively, I would love to see some cute, cozy bits of SKaRD growing together as a team. Like that one lovely clip show we got where they're just hanging out in the base talking, but more so.
I had forgotten how much I hate how DW does cuts. Anyway, I hope whoever gets assigned to me finds this useful and not excessive. For some reason I talk a lot when I write these.
